NAIS (National Association of Itsekiri Students) is dedicated to making a positive impact for Itsekiri students worldwide. Our mission is to empower, connect, and celebrate our community, providing the support and resources needed to thrive in higher education and beyond.
Our Story
The Struggle to Make a Difference
The National Association of Itsekiri Students (NAIS) was birthed out of love, unity, progress, and oneness with a core vision, to bring Itsekiri students together, identify with one another, and collectively address the academic and social challenges affecting them in various institutions.
Beyond academics, NAIS seeks to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Itsekiri people. In the face of many challenges, the association has consistently embraced proactive solutions, reaching back to various LGAs to engage younger Itsekiri students inspiring them to realize that

As the saying goes, “The root of truth is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.”
We also host a monthly Congress—a sacred space where unity and purpose entwine—which affords us the opportunity to fellowship in oneness, review our objectives, reflect on our essence and render accountability. Through this gathering,we strengthen our ties and celebrate our shared identity.
NAIS will never relent in the struggle to make a difference.
Across institutions, many vibrant, intelligent, goal-driven, and determined Itsekiri students are excelling not content with being local champions. Through solidarity, comradeship and innovative ideas, they have pushed boundaries, rising in departmental, faculty, Student unionism, and national student politics always representing Iwere with pride.
Indeed, the light of Iwere can never be dimmed. Our students continuously seek new heights and broader horizons. And we will never forget the unwavering support of our parents, guardians, and leaders, who have stood by us in this noble struggle.
